Newcastle University badminton players Shu En Lee and CiCi Lu head the field at the Northumberland Senior Silver Event in November
There was a strong showing from Newcastle University's ladies in the Northumberland Senior Silver Event at the Tyneside Badminton Centre in November with both CiCi Lu and Shu En Lee contesting the ladies singles final. First year student Lee got the better of Newcastle veteran Lu in the end after two close sets.
The accolades for didn't stop there however as Lee and partner Vivian Tan knocked out top seeds Sarah Renton and Vicky Brewis to set up another all Newcastle University final against Lu and partner Angel Chow. Lee doubled her success with a win alongside Tan in another tight two sets.
The event was covered by local paper the Chronicle which meant a bit of press coverage for Newcastle's talented badminton squad.

The addition of Lee and Tan to an already strong squad at Newcastle has seen a record breaking start for the ladies 1st team in BUCS, currently sitting in 3rd place in the Premiership. The ladies are also fighting for the league title in the Northmberland Badminton League, a title the club has never won before in it's history.
