Opportunities
Our BUCS and local league teams aren't the only opportunities for our players to find competitive badminton, there are plenty of other options throughout the year.
The varsity fixture against our rivals Northumbria University (Stan Calvert Cup) is always a huge occasion for all sports and a chance to get one over on the poly isn't one to be missed! Newcastle currently hold the cup with our badminton teams both winning their respective fixtures in 2022.

Local Graded Competitions
Badminton England graded senior competitions are ran out of the nearby Tyneside Badminton Centre on an annual basis as well as the Northumberland County Championships. Our club play a big part in many of these competitions competing against some of the best players in the north-east of England. James Anderson, our men's number one player, was recently an integral part of the Northumberland men's team who gained promotion in the 2022 Inter-County Championship.
BUCS Individuals is the major BUCS competition in which badminton players get the chance to compete as individuals. Although our players head down as a team when they get there it's every indiviudal/doubles pairing for themselves . Competition is fierce with some of the best university players from around the UK but we've had success recently from alumni student Shu En Lee who finished 3rd in 2018/19 . A big night out for the players always follows the badminton, a chance to commiserate or celebrate what happend on court.
